About DCCC

LUCKNOW: In a first of its kind initiative, the urban development minister has set up a dedicated command centre at the directorate to real-time monitoring of cleaning and sold waste disposal work in cities.

The urban development department also increased the daily allowance of the contractual workers deputed for sweeping the roads to motivate the staff in ensuring cleanliness and achieve desired results.

As per the order issued by the department, the daily allowance of contractual workers has been hiked by 9% from Rs 336 to Rs 366. The dedicated command and control centre has been set up for the first time to make sure that the extra spending from the state coffers yields results.

Senior officials in urban and local bodies will have to daily monitor the work done by the staff and weekly review will be conducted by the urban development minister A K Sharma. Additional chief secretary, urban development, Rajneesh Dubey said that a GO for the setting up if the command centre has been issued within a week of the formation of the new government. As most of the road cleaning and sweeping work is done from 5am to 8am in cities and urban areas, the zonal officers in nagar nigams and nagar palikas will have to get on the ground and monitor the work. A dashboard will be created on which officials will have to update the status of cleanliness work and provide feedback. Such close monitoring will be done by officials and residents for the first time and a detailed order has been issued to leave no scope for any doubt, Sharma said. The status of drinking water supply and sewerage system will be also checked gradually. As traffic movement on roads increases from 8am, the idea is to wrap up the cleanliness work within three hours. For internal monitoring, the phone lines of the control room will be expanded to 12 from the current 3. A four-digit 24x7 helpline number will be also provided in the next few days on which residents can register complaints and provide feedback. The helpline number and CUG numbers of zonal officers will be displayed at prominent locations and on social media by the local civic body. As of now, residents can give their feedback on 18001800101 between 05 am and 10 pm.
